POSITION TITLE:

Application Engineer

DESCRIPTION:

This position will report to the Senior Aerospace Application Engineer.  The incumbent will be responsible for supporting the successful introduction of Kasier’s new sheet and plate products, and for developing new applications with current and potential customers in the US market.  The incumbent will interact closely with Kaiser OEM customers as well as Tier 1-type suppliers and other 3^rd parties—such as universities and technology companies—in follow-ups on product performance, discovering new applications for Kaiser Aluminum products as well as fostering or maintaining our technical relationships. The incumbent shall have superior communication skills in order to capture and translate customer comments into meaningful R&D goals in the development of new, or the improvement of existing, Kaiser products; working closely with the Advanced Engineering Staff to achieve these goals. Extensive travel is often required to achieve the goals of this position.

SUMMARY OF REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS—metallurgy, material science, mechanical engineering, or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
• Experience with development and introduction of new products in the Aerospace or Defense industries
• Demonstrated success working with limited supervision and in a cross-functional team setting
• Excellent written and oral communication, organizational, and presentation skills
